Masters Scholarship in New Zealand 2015

The University of Auckland is offering a number of scholarships for international students to pursue Masters degree of Arts. The scholarship is open to all international students who are willing to apply for a study program in New Zealand in the upcoming year.

Full-time masters degree in faculty of arts

Value of Award:

up to $10,000

Number of Awards:

up to 5 per annum

Selection Process:


  • Application by form is made to the scholarship office
  • a Selection Committee assesses the application 
  • the scholarship is awarded by the University Of Auckland Council on the recommendation of the selection committee

Regulations:

  1. The Scholarships shall be known as the Faculty of Arts International Masters Degree Scholarships.
  2.  Up to five Scholarships will be awarded annually, each for a period of one year, and will be of the value of up to $10,000 per annum.
  3.  To take up and be paid the Scholarships the candidates must be enrolled and have paid the fees, or arranged to pay the fees, for full-time enrollment in a Master of Arts, Master of Creative Writing, Master of Literature, Master of Public Policy, Master of Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages, Master of Theology or Master of Professional Studies in the Faculty of Arts, at The University of Auckland .
  4.  The Scholarships are tenable by international students only.
  5.  The basis of selection will be academic merit .
  6. The Scholarships will be awarded by The University of Auckland Council upon the recommendation of a Selection Committee comprising the Dean of the Faculty of Arts (or nominee), the Associate Dean (Postgraduate) of the Faculty of Arts (or nominee) and the Chair of the Faculty of Arts Scholarships Committee (or nominee).
  7. The Scholarships will be paid as a contribution towards tuition fees.
  8.  The Scholarships may be held concurrently with any other award or grant as long as a) the terms of that award or grant permit and b) The University of Auckland Council is informed and approves.
  9.  The University of Auckland Council, in consultation with the Dean of the Faculty of Arts, has the power to terminate or suspend a Scholarship if it receives an unsatisfactory report on the progress of a Scholar from the relevant Head of the Department or School in the Faculty of Arts.
  10.  The University of Auckland Council is not obliged to make an award if in any year there is no candidate of sufficient merit.
  11.  The University of Auckland Council has the power to amend or vary these Regulations provided that there is no departure from the main purpose of the Scholarships.
  12.  Applications by way of a form close with the Scholarships Office on 1 November in the year preceding the award.

Notes:

  1. The Scholarships must be taken up by semester two in the year of the award. Where a Scholar is unable to take up the Scholarship in the year of the award, their offer will lapse. However they may re-apply in the following or subsequent years.
  2.  For the purpose of these Scholarships, academic merit is assessed as a Scholarships GPA or GPE obtained over the applicants’ most recent two years of full-time graded study (or equivalent). These Scholarships are highly competitive and as such are awarded to the very highest achieving student(s). The GPA or GPE of successful recipients of similar Faculty of Arts scholarships has been 7.50 or above.
  3. Tuition/Compulsory fees are those only related to the relevant programme of study, plus Student Services Fee and Building Levy.
  4. These regulations are subject to Senate and Council approval
