DAAD undergraduate scholarship in Germany 2015

Highly qualified undergraduate students are invited to apply for scholarships funding study, senior thesis research and/or internships in Germany. The goal of this program is to support study abroad in Germany and at German universities. Preference will be given to students whose projects or programs are based at and organized by a German university. Scholarships are available either as part of an organized study abroad program or as part of an individual, student-designed study abroad semester or year.

Eligibility Criteria 
Each year, an independent selection committee of academics and international education experts is assembled to select the Undergraduate Scholarship grantees. This committee is looking for students who:
  • are currently second and third year students and will be in their third and fourth year during their stay in Germany
  • are seeking DAAD support for a 4-10 month period in Germany during the German academic year
  • possess outstanding academic records and personal integrity, as evinced by both their grades and letters of recommendation
  • have well-defined study, research or internship plans for their stay in Germany
  • submit the DAAD language evaluation form with their application, although German language competency is not mandatory
  • demonstrate an interest in contemporary German and European affairs and who explain the significance of their project in Germany to their future studies, research or professional goals
  • are enrolled, full-time students in an undergraduate degree-granting program at an accredited North American college or university
  • will return to the US or Canada after the scholarship period to complete their bachelor's degree.

Terms of Award
Scholarships may be granted for a minimum of four (one semester) and a maximum of 10 months (one academic year). Recipients will be awarded a monthly stipend of approximately € 650, plus additional funds to help defray travel and research expenses as well as health insurance. 

Note: The scholarship periods must take place during the German academic year (anywhere from October 2015 through July 2016).

  • Project Proposal (approximately 3 pages, see FAQs for tips)
  • Two Letters of Recommendation (no more, no less): If you have two majors, please submit letters from professors in both of your major fields of study; Otherwise, please submit a letter from a professor in your major field of study, and a letter from a professor in one of your minor fields of study. Please make sure to tell your professors not to send letters in German!
  • Statement of Support and Credit Eligibility
  • One of the following: Acceptance into Study Abroad Program, Exchange Program, letter by mentor or invitation from a German university
  • Transcripts (for the Undergraduate Scholarship Program only college transcripts!)
  • Language Evaluation Certificate (Sprachzeugnis). All applicants are required to submit this, even if your study program is in English.

  • Submit a total of FOUR SETS (1 original, 3 photocopies) of all the application materials; each set should be collated in the order listed above. 
    You have to submit at least one sealed document of each of your original recommendation letters and official transcripts.

    PhD Scholarship in Acoustics and Signal Processing for Wind Farm Noise Measurements

    Two PhD scholarships, funded through an ARC Linkage Project, are available.
    The first is on acoustics aspects of the project which include: a study of the mechanism of wind induced noise, the effects of wind induced noise on the performance of the microphone array, and various acoustical methods to reduce it.
    The second is on signal processing aspects which include: a study of the spherical microphone array beamforming algorithm, differential microphone array directivity pattern design methods, and adaptive noise cancellation algorithms.

    Commonwealth Medical Fellowship

    Commonwealth Medical Fellowships are offered for dentists and doctors from developing countries to enable them to spend three and six months at UK hospital undertaking a programme to enhance their clinical skills. These fellowships are funded by the Department For International Development(DFID).

    Purpose and tenure

    The primary aims of the Enhancing Clinical Skills Awards are for the award holder to learn a new clinical skill, to practise the new clinical skill, and to network with others in the same and related specialties.  The secondary aims are for the award holder to participate in the academic activities of the host organisation, and to conduct small-scale research projects.
    Awards are tenable for between three months and six months; experience suggests that a minimum of 4 months is sensible.  Awards are tenable at any approved UK University Hospital.

    Nominations

    Nominations for Commonwealth Medical Fellowships are invited from specific developing country universities. These universities are responsible for advertising the fellowships to their staff and selecting candidates to be nominated to the CSC.

    Scholarships for undergraduates

    A number of Reach Oxford scholarships (formerly Oxford Student Scholarships) are offered to students from low-income countries who, for political or financial reasons, or because suitable educational facilities do not exist, cannot study for a degree in their own countries.
    Students should note they must apply for admission to the University before they can be considered for a Reach Oxford Scholarship. The University is unable to consider any scholarship applications from students who have not been offered a place at Oxford. The University is not responsible for the content of external sites advertising the scheme and would encourage applicants to read the following details to check their eligibility.

    Eligibility Criteria:

    Applicants must be nationals of countries who receive official development assistance from the Development Assistance Committee (DAC) of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD):
    This scheme is only suitable for candidates of the highest academic ability who have outstanding examination results. However, financial need and social commitment are also major criteria for selection. Applicants should be intending to return to their country of ordinary residence following their studies. Priority will be given to students who have not studied at undergraduate level before.

    How to apply? :
    You must make an application to the University through UCAS by 15 October and be successful in gaining a place.     MBA Scholarships for Domestic and International Students in Austrailia,2015

    The UQ Business School is offering a number of 25% tuition-fee waiver scholarships to outstanding domestic and international students commencing the full-time (12 months) MBA program in January of each year. The scholarship is available to students who undertake their MBA studies equivalent to full-time study as defined by the UQ Business School.

    what is the scholarship : The scholarship will entitle the successful applicants to receive a 25% discount on their course tuition fees for the minimum number of units required to complete the full-time (12 month) MBA program unless otherwise stated. International students may also be eligible for an additional reimbursement of up to AUD$3,000 to cover travel expenses.
    The scholarship will be renewed at the end of each semester of the program if the holder:
    (a) obtains satisfactory grades; and
    (b) makes a satisfactory rate of progress towards completing the full-time (12 month) MBA program; and
    (c) fulfills the obligations* of the full-time (12 month) MBA program; and
    (d) remains a full-time MBA student.
    The Academic Dean and Head of School alone will determine the meaning of the word “satisfactory” for the purpose of (a) and (b)above.
    *Obligations of scholarship holders are for students to:
    1. commence study in January including the MBA orientation event; and
    2. fulfill all requirements associated with their student visas; and
    3. diligently and to the best of their ability apply themselves to the successful completion of the full-time (12 month) MBA program; and
    4. conform to The University of Queensland rules, regulations, policies, and procedures (including disciplinary provisions); and
    5. not defer or otherwise interrupt studies; and
    6. notify the Academic Dean and Head of School in writing if:
      1. they are absent for any reason (other than recreation leave) for a period of 14 days or more from the place of study, except with prior approval from the Head of School.
    Scholarship holders who do not continue to meet all of the requirements in (a), (b), (c), and (d) as stated above will forfeit the scholarship. This will result in the scholarship being withdrawn, and the student will not be eligible to re-apply for the scholarship.
    The University of Queensland may require the scholarship holder to repay the tuition-fee waiver amount if the student fails to:
    1. meet all of the requirements in (a), (b), (c), and (d) as stated above; or
    2. successfully pass a course (grade of 4 or higher)

    How to Apply : Applicants must meet each of the following conditions in order to apply for the scholarship:

    1. have already submitted an application for entry into the full-time (12 month) MBA program and be eligible to receive an ‘unconditional’ offer for admission^. That is, you must have met the standard entry criteria for acceptance into the full-time (12 month) MBA program (including GMAT, English Language proficiency, and work experience); and
    2. provide a personal statement of no more than 1000 words (use 1.5 spacing and 12 point font) in support of your application. This statement should:
      1. explain why you want to undertake the MBA at UQ Business School; and
      2. describe what value you think you will bring to your fellow MBA students; and
      3. outline your long-term career goals; and
      4. provide evidence of your leadership skills and community involvement; and
      5. outline how you will add value to the MBA program; and
    3. supply two written references as follows:
      1. a professional reference from a current or former (recent) supervisor or manager; and
      2. a character reference; and
    4. attend an interview – in Australia or via video-conference/skype/phone interview. Shortlisted applicants will be contacted to arrange a suitable time; and
    5. NOT have been awarded any other MBA scholarship as defined by the UQ Business School.
    Applications for admission to the full-time (12 month) MBA program should be submitted separately to your scholarship application. Details to apply for admission into the full-time (12 month) MBA program can be located on the UQ Business School website or the Courses and Programs website.

    The 2015 AU Emerging Global Leader Scholarship for International Students (AU EGLS)

    The AU Emerging Global Leader Scholarship promotes educational access and opportunity while enhancing international diversity. Bringing together the best of AU — academic excellence, leadership development, and global engagement — the AU Emerging Global Leader achieves, inspires, and serves with vision. The AU EGL is dedicated to positive civic and social change, and will return home to improve under-resourced, underserved communities in his/her home country.
    The AU EGL scholarship covers all billable AU expenses (full tuition, room and board) for one international student who will need a visa (preferably an F-1 or J-1 student visa) to study in the United States. The scholarship does not cover non-billable expenses such as mandatory health insurance, books, airline tickets and miscellaneous expenses (approximately U.S. $4,000).
    The AU EGL scholarship is renewable for a total of four years of undergraduate study, based on continued satisfactory academic performance.
    Important: Only one AU Emerging Global Leader Scholarship is available for fall 2015. If you are not selected as the 2015 AU EGL recipient and wish to continue the application process, you may be eligible for partial merit scholarships. However, you will need to submit proof of additional funds beyond the initial US$4,000 you provided. Estimated costs for the 2015-2016 academic year are US$59,780. 
    You are NOT eligible to apply if:
    • You are a U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, or dual citizen of the U.S. and another country.
    • You are enrolled in or have already begun any post-secondary studies at another university.
    AU EGLS candidates must apply Regular Decision for fall (August) 2015.
    Preference will be given to:
    1. International students who have overcome various obstacles and challenges as well as those from diverse and underrepresented global and socioeconomic backgrounds.
    2. A minimum 3.8 GPA equivalent (or in the top 10% of graduating class) for 9th-12th grades.
    3. A demonstrated commitment to leadership, volunteerism, community service and to advancing the needs of people in their home country.
    4. A minimum 95 TOEFL iBT, 7.0 IELTS or 600 paper-based TOEFL

    International Scholarships

    International students are encouraged to apply for academic scholarships at Texas State. If you are a continuing international student, you may apply for scholarships via the Texas State Scholarship Application.
    If you are an international student who is a freshman or transfer student for the 2015-2016 academic year, you may submit your scholarship application via ApplyTexas.  For Freshmen, the deadline is December 15, 2014.  For Transfer students the deadline is March 1, 2015.  Remember, you must be currently enrolled or admitted toTexas State by the appropriate scholarship deadline in order to be considered for scholarships.
    All Assured Scholarships are guaranteed to all qualified international students provided you are admitted to Texas State as a first-time incoming freshman and meet the minimum scholarship qualifications prior to your first semester (fall or spring). If you are awarded a competitive Texas State scholarship of at least $1,000, you are eligible to pay in-state tuition (visit residency requirements for more details). Please work with the department that awarded you the scholarship to complete the appropriate nonresident tuition waiver form available at Student Business Services.
